our Contributor said to me that previous poll might be compromised my those who post mirrors;
since the results was like 91% (to keep mirrors) against 9% (to dismiss), the idea feels quite likely.

The overall noise around this thing is going on because:
- Contributors don't want anyone to post mirrors to their posts (for a well known reason...);
- I'm supporting mirrors because i don't want posts to die;
- now we decided to disable mirrors for Contributors only (you won't be able to post mirrors to Contributor's post), with condition that Contributors will keep their posts alive and reupload links themselves.

But, as i always said, AudioZ belongs to all of you, members;
so it's up to you to decide.

The current poll is a widget that i've got from a Poll Service Web-site, it's very well protected, so those who want to cheat and make multiple vote, won't be able to.

Simply choose your option, press Vote! and you'll be forwarded to another page with some text on russian and CAPTCHA - you know the drill, put those numbers in there and press the button.

Please participate in this poll!
results will rule the future of AudioZ.

my personal opinion on this matter:
We probably should remove the option to post mirrors to Contributor's posts.
Many of them buy stuff themselves, and expect to get the money back on downloads... I'm not saying it's a good thing to make money on uploads, but the fact is - this is what keeps them going.

Personally, I only care for the posts to stay alive. If they promise to provide link updates, then it's definitely Win/Win for both Members and Contributors.

and those who post mirrors, can still post them to other members posts.

It has become apparent, that from here on out, it should be considered that anyone pursuing this issue any further than the legitimate non-biased facts, is an organizational agent/government operative. These are the people inflating the issue with bullshit by propagating false information/disinformation to no end

Most of the people you think are "agents" are members of another site (and our releases get uploaded here after they're posted there) and have fairly strong credentials. Your paranoiac rants would be amusing in most circumstances, but presently they're just sad. I told you to read some NFO files sometime, you'll see some of the names here that you distrust in them.

thats about the only true thing thats come off your fingers in the past couple days (from a general perspective). yet this is just another highly frivolous thing that you are presenting, and it is not something that you or anyone else is ever going to change because it is happening on every single public/private blog/forum/torrent site imaginable. mfkkrs are digitally lynching stingy ppls content everyday. NOTHING NEW! dissemination of information will always spread into the global network from its original source. sure it would be nice to keep things in house, but you are forgetting that a large percent of these people doing what you say don't even speak/read english (much less are concerned with translation), and then the consideration that most dont take the time to read the rules in the post/site anyways, so the only way to prevent this is to not share anything at all.

you seem to be all for the restriction of information, while they seem to be all about sharing! you are forgetting that sharing is what its all about - regardless of who/how/what/when/where! While what I am saying is in no way concerned with their other motives... sticking strictly to the reality of the situation, we all know what/how it used to be, but times are changing...

there are some things you are just going to have to accept if you want to survive. adapt, or gtfo. its fairly simple logic.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying -

DO NOT PROFIT FROM WAREZ.

If our releases end up here, that's fine. We have some users that grab things from here and put them up on our site as well. We do this for fun. $trong $ound seems to make a living doing this, and that goes against the spirit of the scene, and he/she cries foul when people cut into his/her profit margin.

Its not about if you lied about anything, its your overly biased, hypocritical, and generally false statements being made. I'm just pointing out the reality of the situation, since you are unable to admit acknowledgement.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying -

Actually it is a large part of what you are saying, among other things, regardless if you want to admit to your multidimensional digressions or not. You are just hiding it behind the "do not profit from warez" concept as a psychological deterrent.

However, regardless that I am beating around the topic here dissecting your statements, I do empathize with the conscious idea that more individuals should respect rules (from any perspective)! Unfortunately, its just not going to happen from any realistic standpoint.

drably and those he is arguing with: Both sides have raised relatively good points from, as well as some bullshit. I think that one thing most can agree on is that Strong Sound was one of several key contributors in stepping up to reupload after the megaupload situation, whether he had a financial motive or not.

But...

It has become apparent, that from here on out, it should be considered that anyone pursuing this issue any further than the legitimate non-biased facts, is an organizational agent/government operative.

Really? Again, I'm trying to pay attention to some of your very valid points, drably, but nonsense like this really hurts your credibility. While I'm certain developers, etc. are "hiding" amongst our regular userbase, do you really think that every single person that's upset with Strong Sound's recent choices is a spy? Honestly?

No, not everyone LOL. only about 3 :P (and not necessarily a spy either, versus personal involvement FYI)
One is the other guy in the blue shirt standing next to you that I met at the party at the house down the street in the pool with the dj cooking cheese on the grill - y0!

the others with any intentional involvement are just competing fellow uploaders that have made that fact known scattered about in various posts since this uproar started.

Not too much worried about MY credibility here, only that there is credible non-biased factual information presented here.

Why do we need mirrors that replicate the OP's hosts?

Most OP's provide 5+ different links, sometimes one file, and also split-files.

Then, another uploader will just re-up on the exact same hosts? What is the point of that?

Isn't the idea of a mirror to be different, to give more options?

Say Discover for example, they buy a lot of stuff here, and I doubt they care about making money, but then you have other leeching uploaders, that will download what say Discover just purchased, and make a mirror in Discover's thread, with the exact same hosts as Discover?! Imo this is pretty cheeky, and also pretty pointless.

Uploaders should provide a good amount of their own mirrors, and most do, and they should also decide if they want other mirrors, and if they dont mind then the mirrors should be different hosts from the OP's mirrors.

Links do die over time, but most people just post the words 're-up' in the thread, this is pointless because uploaders do not have time to check all their threads, but it only take a few seconds for a member to send a PM if they need a re-up. It's pretty easy to inform an uploader so that the thread can stay alive. Or, another uploader could contact an OP and say that their links are dead, and would they mind if they did a re-up/mirror to keep it alive for them.

I noticed not too long ago that in certain threads the OP's uploaded.to link/s would be dead, but all the other hosts would be ok, and then uploaded.to mirrors posted on the same day, or soon after, by other certain uploaders, would be active. So it would seem that people posting the same mirrors would deliberately get the most popular link/host taken down, so that people would use their mirrors instead. When money is involved dirty tactics start happening.

Keep the game fair, either mirrors only after a set time, or only if the uploader authorises it, and if any mirrors are added then they must be different hosts, so there are more options.

And also dead links to be reported to the OP by members, so that the links are always going to stay alive, even if there is no mirrors.

I am convinced that you know nothing about satan213 and surely you use a lot of his sharing

Are we phishing for private info here? I don't think so. I've only heard about the other guy in the blue shirt... I think.

BroKill
Now you are free to attack me as you do with those who you don't like

Since you are asking for a response, but not because I dislike you :)
I do not "dislike" anyone here, only the disinfo. Pay attention!

BroKill
I have been here a long time

brokill, et al, your status(es) is/are irrelevant to the discussion. While this is not necessarily relevant, there are others who have been around a long time too, and those who have been around since the inception of sharing over this internet medium as we know it.

The other guy in the blue shirt has only been able to watch this evolution manifest to its present state since the mid 90's.

BroKill
You're on the wrong side, drably...better informed before spitting sentences!!!

I am only here to promote an awareness to the reality of the situation. Just because what I speak of does not agree with what you think, does not mean I am on any side.

BroKill
Sharing is only for FREE.......sharing means LOVE, no profits and no $$.

even you, who have been around a stated "long time" are missing the point. none of these services are 100% free. never will be. either you sit and wait for another option, such as wait times/slow dl speeds, or similar with a risk variable alternative that might come with compromises (torrents), or you will drop some money to do otherwise. this is what sharing is now, and it goes both ways, not just for those downloading.

drably
this is what some uploaders here are doing

At least they are sharing!

You're right, it's not worth getting too petty over this situation, get a fair plan for all in place, then there will be no moaning and no dirty tactics. I'm sure a Win/Win can easily occur here. wink

some are FREE or do not restrict unregistered and free users in any way...

just give you an example of a "mainstream" one that is NEVER used here...zippyshare...allows mutiple download (up to 6 or 7 files at one), download speed is about 200kbps on average where I live which is quite all right since it's free...buuuut..I dont think they have a money-making plan available for uploaders... rofl
they are not the only ones mind you....however I dont think people here will be interested...grass is a lot greeener on the side of the $ bill ^^

most of the hosts used here aren't free....when I asked for a free one once, I got a negative answer...wonders why eh??! I will never pay for any of them...if I pay for something it's to buy the soft..not to download it illegally..which is ludicrous...anyone who gets a premium account just for that is a bonehead!

Zippyshare, rghost, ifolder, etc. are pseudo-free yet still restricted. Meaning you actually have to go to the page, view a lot of spam (depending on browser), deal with XSS and geo marketing information harvesting tracking issues after you click through a page or two, and then you will get your link. It's novelty at best, inconvenience at most. However, instead of the uploader, the service itself is making money from you clicking that link! Same concept everyone here is arguing against.

An example of a service I am seeing used on a couple of organized and relatively exclusive forums, as some form of resolution for "free" users, which allows for a more true unrestricted downloading experience, one where you can just straight up use the link itself, meaning it works like any NORMAL direct-link-to-file (http/ftp), is the "disk.karelia.pro" service.

peace :)

I think the guy in blue shirt now dress in back

He also wears the multicolored bird on his shoulder.

I am only receptive to the obvious, not the unknown. In 2012 you pay for the content distribution service that supplies your wareZ, or you are paying someone behind a website for your wareZ... one way or another (pseudo-free/premium). derp/derp

No justification of issue here. One will never exist until a new content distribution medium is invented that is not only free, but anonymous and secure. This effectively excludes torrents!
  Resident 6.11.2008 223

the multicolored bird is a motherfucking pterodactle!
aside that it is probably a good idea to not drop any PI bombs about another...

unless there are specific uploading guidelines/rules set forth through site administration, as well as enforced through site administration, then the entity posting/providing the content ultimately has the choice of discretion as to who/how/what/where content is submitted. However such rules can also discourage content submission and visitors. strictly IMO.

So small situation causes so great discussions and divisions.

But I'm afraid when a government says: THE SITUATION IS THIS, and you have no more space to express your intellectual opinion, you just get left quietly and swallow the soup or SOPA.

Sometimes I think it looks like flies on poop, have for all, but some are not content and want what else is eating beside it self.

well...I use jdownloader...so I just copy/paste links, and it does everything for me...so from my perspective it is free..and I have no problem with the host making some money from ads...they provide me with a "free" service which ofc isnt free for them...so if I dont pay..they somehow have to find the money somewhere else ..right?...

perhaps it's all the same to you but to me it's quite a different stance.

ps: If I agree that ifolder somehow forces you to go through a lot of shit before you can download...rghost and zippyshare do not...get to the page, click the DL button ..and off you go!
Now besides the fact that they have no money making scheme to offer...if there is any other reason ...why arent they used here?? ah lol

I love Zippyshare.com.
No waiting time,no captcha, multiple downloads, and if you encode the name of the the file it's ok, as they don't delete the files.
But, you can't simply put the file with dots, just rename it.
For example, if a file is:xxxx.1.0.vsti.assign.rar, you rename it for something like: xxx.1.vt.asg.
Or you can change extension (switch from .rar or .zip to something like: .mjh or fds, as example) and after download, just rename it for the proper extension.
People just can't forget to say what type of file is.
